The woods right beside Cranberry Cottage are small and yet very beautiful. I wanted to go out to forage for chestnuts and some fallen twigs. The twigs you saw in my last post for my Halloween tree. The chestnuts are in a bowl being roasted regularly to eat with dinner. Yum!
This piece of woods is has a good area of hilliness. It is amazing when you think how flat it is in Holland to suddenly have a steep area in the woods caused by glaciers in the ice age.
The dampness in this dense wood creates perfect conditions for toadstools and I was not disappointed on this walk. There were so many pretty fungi to admire.

What a perfect Autumn walk through lovely landscape.
ReplyDeleteHeidi, the scarf looks perfect for this fall weather. It looks like you had a lovely walk.
ReplyDeleteI love your scarf! It's been a poor year for toadstools in my part of England so it's nice to see your photos. We had a lovely weekend but today is wet and misty - an indoors sort of day:) B Baggins has been for his annual booster and check up at the vet this morning and is in very good shape - he now has his own toothbrush and toothpaste though! I'm hoping he'll be around for at least another 4 or 5 years. It's so sad about Dagi - knowing that a much loved pet is coming to the end of its life is very distressing.
ReplyDeleteI love to take a walk in the woods. I am surrounded by woods and cannot imagine not having them all around me. Love all you pictures that you posted.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to say that I love your sweater and scarf - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love autumn too, everything about it. Today it's raining and I don't even mind that as I know after the rains dry up the leaves are even crisper and turn a more vibrant color. Your walk is beautiful and I'm loving that you see such beautiful toadstools on your walk! All too soon we'll be having snow, which I'm not particularly fond of so I have to take it all in now. Love that your mom made you the cardigan too. :)
Great tour in the woods! And I too wear the 'poncho' you mother made, frequently! This is the perfect season for it. The helleborus is still here, so get your change and take a piece. And while your digging, you surely can admire my little iron from the window....LOL
ReplyDeleteHeidi thanks for stopping by my blog. Hope you stop back soon! You have a beautiful blog too!

Thanks for sharing your pretty pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love walks in the woods too, though I don't see too many toadstools like you do in Holland. I am *loving* your crocheted scarf! You should open an etsy shop...I'd be your first buyer. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, there are probably a lot of gnomes
ReplyDeleteliving in that woods. Bet you did not get to see any
though. You look nice in what we could see of your
sweater and scarf. LOL.
Love you, Mom
Heidi, this is a beautiful scarf and what lovely scenes for this time of year...wonderful. I love the smells in the damp woods and a chill in the air. Are you sure you aren't in heaven? :D Take care.
