Hey brothers!

This past Thursday was National Siblings Day in the US so in honor of my two brothers here is a song that really fits for us (listen to the words). This is for you both.....

To big brother Bill...who we love so much because he is the BIG brother. He is a calm force of few words but loves his family. He is there for us when we need him. He is devoted to my mother and we are glad he is there standing by watching over her while we are so far away.

To baby brother Eric...who is a little one of the family with a big presence. He has found out that he also has nerve dystrophy which I had but was diagnosed fast enough to bring mine into the rest phase. I hope you always see the good in each day no matter how you feel. It brings you through and laughter is the best medication in life.

Happy Siblings Day (belated) to my two brothers.

Christmas impressions.....

With these busy days upon us, here are a few impressions of our home at Christmas...

Today is the 200th anniversary of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales being published. My favorite is Little Red Riding Hood. When I was a little girl, I had a game I would play with my mother. I would go outside and ring the doorbell. My mother would answer and ask who was there. I would happily call out Little Red Riding Hood or another character. Since Little Red Riding Hood was my favorite, my mother sent me this beautiful picture a number of Christmas ago.

Thank you for your wishes for my getting better! I was back laying down yesterday all afternoon but am feeling much better again today.

Do you have a favorite fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm?

Remembering.....

My Aunt Janey's birthday is today. She passed away many years ago now but I still remember her in my heart. She was my favorite aunt even when I was a little girl. My mother always took me to her house when she needed to go away and I had to be watched.

I loved going to her house. I remember having a treat of a square of vanilla ice cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup poured over it while sitting in a high chair at her kitchen table. It had a pull out ladder so I could climb up it myself.

Later, I used to call her my Kitchen Gnome. She was very short and made the best pies in the world. See how I got the name? She used to make up to 9 different pies when I came home to visit and expected me to choose which one. I asked her once if I could have slivers of them all so that stuck. The family would then have slivers. *grins*

I have a pair of her wooden knitting needles in my bookcase. I bought a ball of yarn to keep them in and it is a nice way to remember a very special lady!
